Are you a complete beginner not knowing where to start?  Learning your first guitar chords seems logical but I wouldn’t be the first thing I teach to my new beginner students. Instead I make them play a very simple fingerstyle etude that helps them coordinate both hands. As well as that they can clearly hear the melody that is embedded in the simple chord progression played with only one finger on the guitar.  I invite you to contact me to book a free teaser lesson and I can show you what I mean. I do lessons face to face in Epsom/Ewell.  My address is 24 Fairfield Way, KT19 0EF or via FaceTime/Zoom anywhere in the World;-)

Once you are comfortable synchronising both hands and playing something that sounds quite nice I will go to the second step which is teach you a song using some of the open chords you should know.  A while ago I have recorded this video lesson to share it with my students who need a reminder on how to play their first chords and how to grab them properly.  Although the video is now probably 5-6 years old the concepts I have covered are timeless. Please watch it and save yourself years of struggle in the future and avoid unwanted bad playing habits.  I also hope it will help you to inspire you to contact me and get some proper lessons tailored to help you reaching your musical goals.
