Student Graham Performs a Fingerstyle Arrangement of Unchained Melody

Are you a fan of fingerstyle guitar? If so, you simply must watch the video of my student Graham, who’s recorded a stunning cover of Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers. Fingerstyle guitar is a remarkable approach to playing – it’s a solo guitar technique that beautifully combines both the chords and the vocal melody into one cohesive piece. It’s perfect for building your own repertoire, especially if you’re not a singer. Essentially, it allows you to perform as a one-person band on your guitar, much like a pianist delivering a solo performance without singing a single word!

Graham has been a dedicated student of mine since 2016. Before the pandemic, he travelled to my London studio for lessons. Since he’s based in the Oxford area, he was already familiar with Skype lessons well before they became the norm. Currently, I’m offering guitar lessons in Epsom and Ewell, though for the time being, they remain online due to Covid.

If you’re keen to learn fingerstyle guitar, do get in touch. It’s an invaluable skill to explore, especially if you’re drawn to a singer-songwriter style of music. And let’s not forget – even rock, blues, and metal guitarists can benefit greatly from mastering fingerstyle. After all, it allows you to create an entire musical arrangement without relying on a band. Give it a go – you won’t regret it!
